Anthropic Signs $45B Cloud Deal With Nscale for AI Compute
Anthropic is securing massive compute capacity through a landmark deal with Nscale, signaling aggressive AI infrastructure expansion.
Anthropic just locked in one of the biggest cloud infrastructure plays in AI history. The Claude maker is reportedly inking a $45 billion deal with Nscale, a cloud computing provider, to rent roughly 460 megawatts of compute capacity. That's an enormous power footprint — enough to run a small city — dedicated entirely to training and running AI models.
The compute will be housed at an Nscale data center development in West Virginia, according to sources familiar with the deal. Choosing West Virginia isn't random — the state has been aggressively courting data center investment with cheaper land, available power infrastructure, and favorable regulatory conditions compared to coastal markets.
